Adj. Prof Albert Tan AM

Albert Tan graduated in Science (1969) and Dentistry (1973) from the University of Western Australia (UWA), and worked as a general dentist in Darwin and Perth for three years. He commenced specialist practice in Periodontics in 1978, having completed his postgraduate training at The Royal Dental Hospital, University of London in 1977. He subsequently completed his PhD through the University of Queensland in 1990.
For over forty years he has maintained his specialist private practice, together with an active role in teaching at UWA, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is currently Adjunct Professor at the UWA Dental School, and also mentors dentists pursuing postgraduate qualifications from the The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). In 2012, he was inducted into the Campbell-Wilson Roll of Honour by the UWA Dental Alumni Society for his contribution to dental education in Western Australia. In the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant contribution to tertiary dental education, and to Periodontics.
Dr Tan has been a Consultant Periodontist at Perth Children's Hospital for over 40 years, and was past Chairman of the Dental Department. He remains committed to the care of children with special needs, especially in multi-disciplinary cleft lip and palate treatment.
Research and teaching has been an integral part of Dr Tan's professional life. He has lectured extensively in national and international meetings and conferences, and has been involved in professional organisations at all levels. He is a Past President of The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP), which is the national organisation of the specialty. For his services to the Academy and the specialty, he was honoured with Life Membership of ANZAP in 2017. His research has resulted in numerous publications and he has also been a supervisor for several research projects undertaken by postgraduate students at UWA leading to specialisation.
Above all, Dr Tan believes in the importance of periodontal and oral health, as an integral part of good general health. Treatment of periodontal conditions, and subsequently the maintenance of periodontal health in a caring and friendly environment is the ultimate objective of the practice..
Dr. Ahmed Saleh
Ahmed completed his Bachelor Degree in Dentistry in 2001. He practised general dentistry for 11 years before starting his post- graduate training in Periodontics at UWA. He attained his Membership and Fellowship in Periodontics in December 2014.
Ahmed joined Perio Perth in 2015. He also visits regional areas on a regular basis, providing periodontal treatment for patients in Albany and Geraldton.
Ahmed is a passionate periodontist and believes that the key to effective treatment is good communication, patient education and scientific knowledge.
In addition to English, Ahmed also speaks fluent Arabic.
In his free time, Ahmed enjoys going to the beach, joining running events and socializing with friends.

Dr. Julio Rincon
Julio graduated as a Dentist from Javeriana University, Bogota, Colombia in 1987. Then he completed a specialist degree in Periodontics from same University in 1991. Julio practised as a periodontist in Colombia for seven years and Lectured undergraduate students at Javeriana and Colombia National University.
After migrating to Australia, Julio started a Doctorate degree in 2001 at The University of Queensland. He completed his PhD degree in 2004 and started lecturing Periodontology at UQ School of Dentistry until 2007. In 2008 he moved to Perth and took the position as Head of Periodontology Department in the School of Dentistry at The University of Western Australia. Julio is a Senior Lecturer in Periodontology and teaches undergraduate dental students and also teaches and supervises students as part of their Periodontology specialisation degree.
Dr Rincon is a registered with Dental Board of Australia as specialist dentist in Periodontics. He is a member of Australian Dental Board, Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian Society of Periodontics (ASP), American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology (ANZAP), Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in periodontology and examiner with the Australian Dental Council.
